Our Classes

Four ways to practice

Not sure where to start? Most newcomers begin with Hatha Basics or a Sunday Slow Flow, then wander into whatever the week allows. Mats, blocks, straps and bolsters are here for you — bring water and socks.

Vinyasa

Breath-linked movement with a steady build. Expect sun salutations, standing sequences, and a long, quiet finish.

60 min · Level 1–2

Hatha

Poses held longer, with clear cueing and plenty of options. The friendliest doorway into the practice.

60–75 min · All levels

Yin

Floor-based, deeply supported shapes held three to five minutes. Dim lights, props everywhere, nothing to prove.

75 min · All levels

Meditation

Guided sitting and breathwork — seated on a cushion or a chair, whichever your body prefers today.

30 min · All levels

Weekly schedule

The same rhythm every week, so you can build a habit around it. Arrive five minutes early and let the teacher know if anything's tender.

The Teachers

Six people who will learn your name

Our teachers live in the neighborhood, teach here week after week, and would much rather adjust the pose to fit you than the other way around.

Maya Chen

VinyasaStudio lead

Opened Green Leaf in 2014 after fifteen years of practice. Her morning flows are strong but never rushed, with a long savasana she refuses to cut short.

Tomás Herrera

HathaBeginners

Teaches the class most of our members took first. Patient, precise cueing and a running commitment to explaining why a pose is shaped the way it is.

Priya Raghunathan

YinBreathwork

Builds Yin classes like a slow exhale — bolsters, blankets, dim light. Come to her evening class if your shoulders have been living near your ears.

Ellis Moreau

Meditation

Guides our 30-minute sittings for people who are certain they can't meditate. Chairs, cushions and honest instructions, no incense-and-mystery required.

Jules Bakari

VinyasaGentle flow

A former distance runner who found yoga through injury. Expect thoughtful sequencing for tight hips and hamstrings, plus a well-chosen playlist.

Naomi Ostrowski

HathaYin

Teaches Sunday Slow Flow and midday Yin. Trained in prenatal and gentle practice, and always has three variations ready for any shape.

The Studio

One warm room, a lot of good habits

Green Leaf Yoga is a single practice room above SE Division with fir floors, tall windows and enough plants to justify the name. There's no second location, no franchise handbook, and no wall of upsells at the front desk — just a schedule the neighborhood can count on.

We opened in 2014 with two teachers and eleven mats. Twelve years later it's still the kind of place where somebody notices you've been away for a month, and where beginners get the same care as the folks who've practiced for twenty years.

  • Mats, blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets provided
  • Classes capped at 18 so teachers can actually see you
  • Beginner-friendly by default — modifications always offered
  • Changing area, cubbies and hot tea after every class
  • Street parking on SE Division and a bus stop at the corner
